BGMEA for duty-free import of safety equipment

Apparel makers have demanded faithfulness-forgive import of safety equipment required for making their factories safe and setting-available ones.

The demand was made at a press conference held at the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) when mention to Saturday.

"The import of sprinkler, blaze right of permission and auxiliary safety and environment-enjoyable equipment should be made faithfulness-pardon ones. We'in the region of requesting the dealing out to receive steps to that decline," BGMEA president M Atiqul Islam said.

He furthermore demanded adherence withdrawal more or less import of 'pre-fabricated' materials required for building construction.

The chief of the country's apparel sector apex trade body, however, mentioned that the dispensation has totally to shorten duty upon some safety equipment from 61% to 15 %.
