The government will not pay for entry import of salt this year in order to ensure fair price of the item to the farmers, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said concerning Wednesday.
"We'll not declare yes import of salt this year in a bid to benefiting farmers," Amu told a seminar at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in Dhaka.
Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) and Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) jointly settled the seminar 'Ensuring Universal Iodized Salt'.
State Minister for Women and Child Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki spoke regarding the occasion as special guest.
BSCIC chairman Shyam Sundar Sikdar presided on summit of the seminar even if director of the project universal iodized salt Abu Taher Khan made introductory clarification.
Director of International Centre for Diarrheal Disease and Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B) Dr Tahmid Ahmed and GAIN overseer Rezoan Yusuf Ali jointly presented the keynote paper highlighting swing aspects of iodized salt.
Additional Industries Secretary M Farhad Uddin, BSCIC director Patit Paban Baiddo and country director of GAIN, Bangladesh, Basanta Kumar Karr took share in the exposure to vibes.
